Cistus essential oil, also known as "rock rose,"is known and in use since Biblical times. It has a very pleasant fragrance and helps with breathing problems and coughs. Its fragrant influence is very calming and sedating to the nerves. This oil may be diffused in the air or applied topically to the chest and back, best if diluted with a carrier or massage oil.
