Lemon Essential Oil

lemon

Lemon essential oil is very popular because of its delightful scent and its wide range of uses.

  • A few drops of oil can be added to your laundry or cleaning water for a clean and aromatic effect.
  • Add a drop to your drinking water too; the limonene in lemons supports nerve tissue healing and it also contains vitamin C, which supports the immune system.
  • Add several drops to a spray bottle, mix with water, shake well, and spray it to cleanse and refresh the air in your home, office, stuffy closets, laundry rooms, basements or storage rooms.

Tips for using lemon oil

Add a drop or two of lemon oil to drinking water. The body will interpret the lemon as a food, and this will stave off hunger.

Add several drops of lemon oil to cleansing detergent for washing floors, cabinets etc. Do not use strong amounts as the oil can affect the veneer of cabinetry and wood. Use only a drop or two per gallon.

When painting walls or ceilings of a house add 5 ml of lemon oil to a gallon of paint. Stir well. This will alter the paint smell and give the paint a wonderful fresh scent. And the scent will remain in the room for days afterward. It's an excellent alternative to inhaling paint fumes, plus you get an aromatherapy treatment while you work! You can substitute another citrus oil, like grapefruit, orange or bergamot and get the same effect.
