Myrtle Essential Oil

Myrtle essential oil comes from the leaves of the myrtle tree. The popularity of the tree was reflected in the feminine name Myrtle which was popularized many decades ago.

Myrtle (Myrtus communis)

Botanical Family: Myrtaceae

Extraction: Steam distilled from leaves

Properties: Anti-infectious, expectorant, liver stimulant; hormone-like for thyroid and ovary; use for bronchitis, coughs, chest complaints, cystitis, diarrhea, impaired digestion, hormonal imbalances, skin conditions, blemishes, bruises, sinus infections

Uses: Apply topically, diffuse, use in humidifier to clear air and improve breathing
